I Believe In Santa Paws

For me, even hearing the quote “Home for the Holidays” brings me joy! Even if every holiday isn’t home or perfect, most of us choose to associate it with our happiest memories!

I think, The Grinch, may have said it best. “Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.”

It’s been a hard couple of years for everyone. I personally lost my best friend in the entire world…. Our 17 year old yellow lab Cody. It’s been over a year and I still don’t have words to accurately describe the loss I feel. At times, our own light goes out but life doesn’t stop moving forward, the world doesn’t stop spinning, our responsibilities don’t change. It’s hard… even when from the outside others may think it “looks easy.” We never know when someone is just making it look easy and needs their spark rekindled.

I’m writing this late October, and we just got a sweet new puppy ‘Ollie.’ The name refers back to the primary skateboarding and snowboarding trick ‘the Ollie.’ Without the base of perfecting, the Ollie, it is almost impossible to master any other trick. Seeing how Ollie sees the world, has been the base of rekindling my spark.

Dogs understand the world better than humans. There, I said it. Actually, the lack of verbal communication might be working to their advantage, because somehow, they have a much better grasp on how to achieve complete happiness more so than any human I’ve ever met.

Dogs live in the moment and they love harder than any other species. Sure, there are obviously many aspects of life that dogs cannot fathom. However, maybe that’s what we’re missing… the way they live in their short time on this planet is truly a blissful practice in happiness regardless of the circumstances.

-They Know How to Make New Friends Better Than Anyone

-They Always Greet You with a Smile

-They are Forgiving and Don’t hold Grudges

-They Don’t Overthink Anything

-They Live in the Moment

-They Get How Wonderful Food Is

-They Know the Value of a Good Nap and Cuddle

-They Never Give Up

So this year Santa, you can skip our house! Santa Paws already arrived and we’re so grateful for Ollie and the lessons he reminds us of. Happy Holidays everyone!
